Rugby |
Post Christmas in Edenderry our attention turns from soccer to developing our rugby skills. The school introduces the sport to new and skilled players alike, with the implementation of Youth Sport this has been delivered by international representative players from as far a field as new Zealand, Australia and South Africa, and supported by coaches from local clubs, Ulster and Ireland. Rugby is open to all pupils, boys and girls, from Primary 5 to Primary 7 and each year we have in excess of thirty pupils training. The coaches; Mr Doyle, Mr Mullan and Mr McClean split their squad and each work to develop different areas of the team, as we aim to produce "A", "B" and "C" teams for friendly and competitive matches. Over the past seven years the school has reached the national finals three times via great results in the regional finals, with the year 2004-05 seeing the whole school win the Gilpin Cup, as well as performing exceedingly well at the other minor tournaments. |
