🏑 Girls Hockey - NI Qualifying Tournament 🏑

23rd Feb 2026

Our girls enjoyed a fantastic day of hockey today at Lurgan College taking part in the NI qualifying tournament hosted by Ulster Hockey — and for a welcome change, the weather stayed dry throughout!

We faced Seagoe, Millington, Moyallon and Bocombra in our group games, securing wins in all but one. A strong Bocombra side handed us our only defeat, but excellent teamwork and determination saw us progress confidently to the semi‑finals.

In the semi‑final, we met a very strong Armstrong team. Our girls rose to the challenge brilliantly, playing with real grit, determination and heart from the first whistle. Although the result didn’t go our way, the performance was one the girls can be incredibly proud of.

The final match of the day saw us take on Kings Park, another competitive side this season. An early goal put us on the back foot, but the girls battled hard, creating chances and producing an exciting end‑to‑end game. Kings Park added a late second, but not without our girls giving a fantastic account of themselves right to the final whistle.

We are extremely proud of the effort, attitude and progress shown by every player today. The team represented the school brilliantly, both on and off the pitch and their improvement is clear to see.

We now look forward to our upcoming league games in the next few weeks — plenty of positives to build on!
