Edenderry Leads the Way in Gymnastics Excellence🏅
Edenderry is proud to celebrate the progress made through our ongoing partnership with British Gymnastics NI. This collaboration has already transformed our PE provision and continues to support high-quality learning across the school. As the first partner school of its kind in Northern Ireland, we remain committed to providing inspiring and inclusive gymnastics opportunities for all pupils; a key area of the NI Primary Curriculum.
Two Years of Growth and a Long-Term Commitment ⭐
Over the past two academic years, we have strengthened staff confidence, improved lesson progression and enriched pupils’ experiences. While many initiatives lose momentum over time, Edenderry has created strong and sustainable foundations. Our partnership will remain in place, ensuring that staff and pupils continue to benefit from specialist training, expert guidance and high-quality resources as the programme becomes fully established.
Recognised Excellence 🏅
The partnership has been praised by both ETI, the body that inspects NI schools, and British Gymnastics NI. Inspectors highlighted the quality of pupils’ experiences and have confirmed that Edenderry will be included in an upcoming case study that showcases effective subject and staff development.
British Gymnastics NI has also showcased the project, recognising Edenderry as an example of strong practice within Northern Ireland.
A Whole-School Effort ⭐
Teachers have led the programme, but the wider staff team has played a vital role. Our assistants, support staff and non-teaching staff have helped with resource ordering, equipment organisation, apparatus set-up and supporting pupils during lessons. Their involvement has made gymnastics sessions smoother, safer and more inclusive for all. The PTA and the Board of Governors have also provided finance for resources to endorse this focus on PE.
Pupils at the Heart ❤️
Our pupils have embraced the journey with confidence and enthusiasm. Updated equipment and high-quality digital exemplars have supported children of all abilities, encouraging them to participate fully and celebrate their progress. Research shows that strong physical literacy and positive engagement in PE can improve wellbeing, focus and wider academic development. We see these benefits each day in the confidence, resilience and engagement shown by our learners.
