Festive Food, Smart Choices!

8th Dec 2025

Today’s P6 numeracy lesson took a very festive turn as we used the iPads to plan a full Christmas dinner for four people. Pupils compared prices from two supermarket giants, Asda and Tesco, to work out which offered the best value for money.

There were plenty of surprises along the way! The children were amazed at how expensive some items can be, especially the turkey, and equally shocked at how inexpensive many vegetables are. It sparked great discussions about budgeting, real-life costs, and how families plan for special occasions.

This was a brilliant opportunity to bring money matters into the classroom in a meaningful, practical way. The pupils gained a little insight into what it’s like to manage a household budget and perhaps a new appreciation for the adults who do it!

A fun, festive, and very valuable lesson all round! 🎄✨
