P6 Castlewellan Residential - Day 2

3rd Apr 2025

We woke to another beautiful morning in Castlewellan Forest and enjoyed a good breakfast before meeting with our instructors who explained the day ahead.

Unfortunately, the instructors advised us that the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has placed a restriction on group use of the lake for activities, due to the presence of toxic Blue-Green Algae. This is likely to be the case for all school groups visiting Castlewellan this year. Our initial disappointment soon disappeared, however, when we heard we would still be engaged in an activity that would result in us getting very wet!

During the day we have tried forest lazer quest, archery, various team-building activities and some crazy water challenges, that resulted in most of us (including the staff) getting a proper soaking! We had some bullseye archers to challenge the skills of Robin Hood and some lazer quest teams who should perhaps be considering a career in the elite forces!

Tonight, we were treated to some gorgeous ice-cream, before we busted a few moves at the annual Castlewellan barn dance overseen by DJ Mitch Mix!

Everyone remains healthy, happy and safe. Enjoy our photographs of another special day!
