World Book Day 2026 at Edenderry – A Day Filled with Magic, Mischief and Marvelous Books!
Today, the children and staff of Edenderry celebrated World Book Day in true style – and what a fantastic day it has been!
Excitement filled the school as Mr “Willy Wonka” Blevins took centre stage to present the gold and silver ticket winners with their prizes following this week’s hugely popular sale of the PTA Wonka Bars. The atmosphere was electric as the lucky winners stepped forward to collect their surprises!
Across the school, children arrived dressed as beloved characters from their favourite books, filling our corridors with colour, creativity and imagination. We’re fairly sure the staff enjoyed the dressing up just as much as the pupils—if not more!
Classroom activities were a big hit, and the fun even extended to a bit of mischief. Denis the Menace (also known as Barry the caretaker) made quite the appearance with his water pistol… which was swiftly confiscated after he managed to soak more or less everyone in sight!
It has been a wonderful day, filled with fun, laughter, shared stories and—most importantly—an appreciation for the joy that books bring to our lives.
A huge thank you to our amazing PTA for helping to make this such a special week at Edenderry, and to Mr David Rogers from Toymaster in Portadown for his generous contribution towards the Wonka Bar prizes. Your support means so much to us.
Enjoy the photos!
