P7s Community of Enquiry

19th Nov 2023
One of the key elements to learning is found through Questioning and this has always been at the heart of the P7 curriculum.
In our literacy we initially focused on what constitutes a good Question and how we develop such critical thinking skills. Therefore we began our P7 experience with the pupils interviewing their respective teachers and the pupils have continued with enquiring minds ever since.

Last week we applied our enquiry to discovering more about life in the armed forces. While on Friday our P7s quizzed Carla Lockhart MP on life as a decision maker and politican.

We believe there is no greater resource than those with real life experience. Thus with P7s on the topic of "Ourselves" and developing understanding of the human body and its systems, who better to consult than a Doctor. Indeed we went one better and were fortunate enough to avail of a consultant, Dr Turner.

The P7s spent Friday mid morning discussing the best foods to eat, what breaks/injuries are most common in children, how best to work with allergies and much more. Everyone learnt a lot, including their teachers!

A massive thanks to Dr Turner for taking time out of her busy schedule to continue to inspire our pupils on the miracle that is the human body.

We look forward to future communities of Enquiry, discovering more from experts in their field, drawn from our own wider school community.
