Councillors were welcomed and congratulated. They received a little notebook each to be able to use to record or make notes.

We explained that we should elect officers and how we might conduct business via voting – One councillor – one vote.

We asked for candidates for Chairperson – they stood and spoke why they felt they should be chosen it fell to two candidates who were cordially elected;

Chairperson;  Ellie-Rose Connolly   Vice Chair; Jessica Agnew

Next we considered the need for secretaries to help create the paperwork and write letters and minutes of our meetings. This again fell to three candidates and the result was;

Secretary; Toryn Connor    Assist. Secretary; Jonah Smyth

With officers elected – we moved to looking at what our role was as a council?

We decided to set up a Constitution;

The Constitution was agreed by consensus throughout;

· Our Aim as a council is to help make the school a better place for all

· The rules/management of our council inc;

We will ask our class for their ideas and feelings on things in our school

We will record ideas and bring them to the council to discuss

We will bring appropriate, sensible ideas that benefit the school

2 / 2

We will never refer to a specific person in anything that we have issue with

We are the voice of the pupils in our school

Mr Blevins then visited and again congratulated the pupils on their election and reminded them that they were indeed the voice of the school. He then took time to listen to the initial stages of the constitution that the pupils were creating. Finally he expressed his hopes and looked forward to working with the council.

The councillors were then distributed a questionnaire from Mr Blevins which questioned how they felt in school. As a council we read through it and looked at possible answers and ways we might record responses.

Councillors were then asked to bring this back to their class and teacher.

Remind their teacher that they had already advice on this from Mr Blevins in an email

Then create a response which could be returned to the council by the next meeting on Tuesday 5th Dec. same location at 12.10

The meeting was then concluded. 12.35
